Here's where we will post conference updates and information. And if you have any questions, ask here and we'll answer them for the benefit of the group.

First things first: if you have any food allergies, dietary concerns or other special needs, please let Patti know at confar.4@osu.edu.

Thanks!

We've had a few questions about airpot transportation. Here's what I've been sharing. Please call The Blackwell Inn (614-247-4000) to ask if you can get a seat on their airport shuttle on Sunday, October 12th. The shuttles run every hour-and-a-half. This is a free service, but does require a reservation. Cab fares from the airport to The Blackwell Inn are approximately $30 on Sunday. I hope you all can talk over flight schedules here on this site and share rides. We'll give information on return trips to the airport on Tuesday, October 14th!

We've just received confirmation that Senator John Glenn will attend the closing luncheon on Tuesday, October 14th and offer final remarks! Senator Glenn has "always held fast to the belief that policy decisions related to our natural world must rest upon rigorous research and sound science." We appreciate Senator Glenn's support of the conference goals and are very excited to introduce you to him.

We believe Mrs. Annie Glenn will also attend the closing luncheon on Tuesday. An accomplished woman in her own right, Mrs. Glenn continues her lifelong dedication to public service. Mrs. Glenn serves on the boards of several national programs dedicated to the support of children, the handicapped and the elderly. What an honor to have Mrs. Glenn join us, too. She and the Senator are nearly inseparable and you'll enjoy meeting them both!

Senator and Mrs. Glenn have also confirmed to join us at the post-conference Q&A session at the 4-H Building. Journalists, scientists and policy folks who do not have early flights out can stay and ask questions...and eat cookies with the Glenns!

Update on conference outreach--

In order to reach an audience beyond all of you who are participating in the conference, we will be videotaping many of the sessions to make them available online (no live streaming, but we plan to have videos up quickly). In addition, Amanda Zamora will be live blogging the conference via Twitter. She's establishing the Twitter feed soon--we'll keep you posted on details.

TWITTER ALERT! We have established a conference Twitter account. If you Twitter, please join as a follower. If you don't Twitter, you now have a good reason to sign up.

If you want to learn more about twittering, here's a great Commoncraft video.

Lonnie Thompson, "the world's most distinguished paleoclimatologist," has been recognized as one of Time magazine's Heroes of the Environment 2008.

Note the picture of the ice core freezer--that will be one stop on our Tuesday morning tour at the Byrd Polar Research Center.

Hi everyone,

I've attached the final agenda for the conference. You'll get a copy of this when you arrive, but you may want to review it in advance.

You should also have received an official invitation to Sunday's dinner at the President's house. Although the conference is business casual, the dinner is traditional business dress (i.e. suit jackets, ties).

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday--let us know if you have any questions before then. Safe travels!
